Kinda a rough day today

We had a great night sleep last night. Luke slept 10-8! Kelley slept till 10am! Lucky for daddy he got to sleep in until she got up. Luke and I headed off for his doctors apt which was at 9:30. It did not go as great as I would have liked but was expected if that makes any sense. Our daughter Kelley has a genetic eye problem called nystagmus this runs in my family. She had to have surgery a year ago to help with it. It did not fix her eyes from moving back and forth because there is no cure for this. I was so happy when Luke was born that his eyes seemed to be so still meaning he didn't have it but about a week ago we started noticing his eyes bouncing around. The pediatrician today confirmed that yes he also does have nystagmus. Basically their eyes are constantly moving back and forth. Kelley had to have surgery because she started turning her head at a 50 degree angle which meant she had a small point where she could focus so the surgery moved that focus point to the center so she can now look head on. She still has to turn a very small amount but mostly only when she tries to focus on something far away. Luke's eyes are not that bad yet but they could get worse. Kelleys check up isn't until the end of sept which is when I was hoping they would see Luke but they don't want to wait that long so looks like we have a busy day on Monday. It's about a three hour drive to see the specialist at the children's hospital. It's going to be a busy day trying to drive there and home all in the same day with Kelley with us and then go back for Kelleys apt in sept. We are very thankful and so happy to God that we have healthy children but it is still a struggle to deal emotionally with the nystagmus. It is possible they will order a MRI or ultrasound of his head but unlikely. He seems to have trouble tracking and focusing more than Kelley did at this age but his eyes don't move as much as hers so I'm not really sure that means anything. They had to do a ultrasound with kelley to rule out any brain problems causing the nystagmus. It was clear of course and was determined it's genetic. Which it is because so many people in my family have this. Also at his apt today they said his head is a little flat on one side and to try to keep his head turned the other direction so he won't have to have a helmet. He also got his 2 month shots. He is a healthy boy! His birth weight was 9pounds 9oz and 21 in. Today he weighed 14pounds 4 oz and 24 in!! He is a big healthy growing boy. Everything else looked great! She said keep nursing like I am every two hours since he sleeps so great at night. I am trying to push him to three hours but if he is fussy I feed him. After his apt we went and did some grocery shopping.
The rest of the day was filled with snugging, reading books especially her little Bible stories, and playing! A much needed snuggle day for mommy. Kelley did want to count all her balls like we did yesterday . She counted four five six lol better than nothing. We also looked at different pictures on the computer of words that start with the letter F. She really enjoyed her fun one on one morning with her daddy. She is a big daddy's girl and has been since day one. Here are a few pictures of our day. Kelley in her dress up ballerina dress, black dress shoes, hat, and her Elmo backpack which she packed with extra clothes in case of accident. She is basically all potty trained except for nap and bedtime. We occasionally have accidents and haven't figured out pooping in the potty yet but besides that she does awesome. She told me she was going on a walk and gave me a hug and kiss goodbye. She lights up our day with her imagination. Before this she was in her panties fishing with her fishing pole. And then a picture of Luke doing some tummy time. And this is just part of the reasons I love being a stay home mommy! Even though I have those moments when I want to scream or cry I wouldn't have it any other way but to be here with my beautiful babies! I am so thankful everyday that God has given me a wonderful family! We may be poorer financially than we would like but we always say our hearts and lives are richly blessed!!!
